HISTORY OF LOWDEN

Made in Northern Ireland

As an instrument is personal to both player and maker, the guitar has a way of bringing the two together with sometimes surprising results.

Being a small, family-run business has allowed George Lowden to enjoy personal friendships with those who play his guitars, listening to their feedback to further his designs.

When Ed told Gary Lightbody (front man for Irish band Snow Patrol) that he wanted a Lowden guitar, Gary gave him his own original Lowden – an authentic Bushmills® from 2012 which Ed used to write five songs for his number one album ‘X’ (Multiply).

Gary asked George if he would make a guitar for him to give Ed as a present. George developed a unique small guitar for Ed that later became a new model of Lowden Guitars – ‘The Wee Lowden’.

George and Ed’s friendship developed further from their shared dream to give young, aspiring players access to a quality guitar; encouraging them to learn, progress and create music.

From here,
Sheeran by Lowden was born.

THE W-SERIES

Ed helped George design the W Series because that’s the model where it all started (or, ‘that where the story began). Based on Ed’s first custom Lowden - a body shape designed for him now called the Wee Lowden (WL) - these instruments’ compact construction is ideal for young beginners and professionals alike. They’re also available with a wide selection of tonewoods and most with onboard LR Baggs electronics.

When you want to play long, there’s nothing like a guitar that tucks in, with a beautiful bevel to rest your playing arm on. The W03 is your higher level of detail and comfort, from size to sound. A solid cedar top mellows the sound with increased touch response.

At the same time, the Indian rosewood back and sides deliver full lows and a clear top end. When it’s time to share with others, the LR Baggs EAS VTC electronics and Soundbox bevel give Ed (and YOU!) a beautiful onstage tone and hours of playing comfort.

W03: your long performer with extra comfort and extra sound, ready to share.
